Issues Presentation Rubric


Select and research thoroughly an issue affecting the accounting profession.  Some topics are below but others are welcome with teacher approval:

Your tasks include:

  • A 20-minute presentation on your topic including visuals (PowerPoint, Prezi, Smart Notebook, etc.) and an activity or some other form of audience participation.
  • A works cited list to be handed in on the date of your presentation. One printed copy of your presentation for my review.
  • Participation in other students’ presentations.

Your presentation should include the following:

Scandals Everything Else
·         Timeline with key dates

·         Key players

·         An explanation of what the company did and how it violated accounting rules

·         An analysis of why the company/executives perpetrated the fraud

·         The consequences for the key players and the company

·         The future outlook for the key players and the company

·         An explanation of the topic including key terms/people

·         An analysis of why this topic is important (for the accounting profession/businesses/governments/ global community)

·         Real world examples and/or a case study on the topic

·         An analysis of the role accountants play in the issue/topic

·         A future outlook on the topic – what can we expect in the next 5 to 10 years
